All Ekiga settings are stored<!--:
* for ekiga >= 3.4: in your Application Data directory, such as <code>C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Local Settings\Application Data</code>.
* for ekiga version <= 3.3.2:--> in <code>%APPDATA%\ekiga.conf</code> file.  To find out the value of <code>%APPDATA%</code> on your computer (it may be something like <code>c:\Users\root\AppData\Roaming</code>), open a command terminal and type <code>echo %APPDATA%</code>.
To see that file, you may need to activate show hidden files and directories.

Ekiga is a 32-bit program but it also works on 64-bit machines.

Starting with Ekiga 4.1, GTK+ is installed locally (in Ekiga directory), and not system-wide.  This only means that if Ekiga was the only program on your machine using GTK+, you can safely uninstall GTK+ to save about 14 MB.  Also, Ekiga settings are stored in the Windows registry (which can be viewed with <code>winedit</code> program), key <code>HKEY_USERS/very-long-name/Software/GSettings/org/gnome/ekiga</code>.

== Known issues ==

* If your computer does not display video with 4.0.1+ version: overlays seem to be deprecated in Windows 8, and disabled by default.  A workaround to enable overlays is to create the following registry value: <code>[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Direct3D\Shims\EnableOverlays] "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Ekiga\\ekiga.exe"=dword:00000001</code>, as seen on [http://forum.ventrilo.com/showthread.php?t=69659 this thread] and [http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsdesktop/en-US/d3c684b0-37ac-4a52-ba08-464b8dae4433/overlay-mixer-seems-to-be-broken-in-windows-8?forum=windowsdirectshowdevelopment this MS page].
